Manufacturing
Nine AI pilots, US$2 million in projected annual cost savings and cost avoidance, from a single manufacturing plant
Result
What was the result?
Nine AI pilots delivered US$2 million in projected annual cost savings and cost avoidance from a single manufacturing plant, for a multinational manufacturer operating in Malaysia, with plans to scale across the region.
This engagement was delivered by GrowthPro Asia before the Cradle collaboration.
Context
A multinational manufacturer operating in Malaysia set out to build data and AI capability across its workforce. Over six months, employees completed introductory courses in Python, data engineering and data storytelling, then advanced modules in machine learning, deep learning, NLP and time series analysis.

What We Did
The team applied their training across nine AI pilot projects. Among the nine pilots:
- Video analytics to detect potential equipment crashes.
- Computer vision for defect classification.
- Production planning optimisation.
Defect detection had relied on engineers’ expertise to interpret and classify defects. In the AI-powered version, deep learning detected defects and machine learning classified them using historical data and product images, improving accuracy and efficiency.

Proof
Nine AI pilots demonstrated US$2 million in projected annual cost savings and cost avoidance from a single manufacturing plant. With plans to scale across the region, the client anticipates further savings and operational efficiencies.
