In short
What is the Responsible AI program?
A one-day workshop on deploying AI safely under Malaysian rules. It covers the national AI governance principles, PDPA-aligned data practices, bias checks, and human-in-the-loop accountability.
Malaysia now has a national standard for this. In September 2024 the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation published the National Guidelines on AI Governance and Ethics (AIGE), built on seven principles: fairness; reliability, safety and control; privacy and security; inclusiveness; transparency; accountability; and the pursuit of human benefit (MOSTI, 2024). This program turns those principles into a deployment posture your team can actually apply. Source: MOSTI, National Guidelines on AI Governance and Ethics (AIGE), 2024
We have deployed AI inside regulated Malaysian enterprises, including banking and government, where data scrutiny and audit pressure are high. You get governance built for that reality, not a US template retrofitted to PDPA. See a case study.
What your team will be able to do
- Apply Malaysia's AI governance and ethics principles to real decisions.
- Use PDPA-aligned data-handling practices for everyday AI work.
- Spot and reduce algorithmic bias across diverse Malaysian users.
- Set fact-checking habits that catch AI errors before they ship.
- Build human-in-the-loop sign-off into AI-assisted processes.

Who runs it
This program is run by industry practitioners who have shipped AI inside regulated enterprises across banking, government, manufacturing, and telco. It is led by Peter Kua, our AI and data science lead, a core contributor to Malaysia’s National Big Data Analytics Framework under MDEC and co-author of Malaysia’s AI Adoption Blueprints in 2019 and 2020. You are learning from people who have built this in production, not read about it. Peter’s commentary on AI adoption and workforce capability has appeared in The Star, theSun, Singapore Business Review, e27, and DagangNews, and on RTM Berita’s Tech Today.
Responsible use is what lets AI adoption move fast without creating risk. This workshop gives every team a shared standard for what is safe to do and where a person must sign off.
Common questions
Who is the Responsible AI program for?
Teams deploying or about to deploy AI: risk, compliance, data, and the function owners who will run it. No deep technical background is needed. You leave able to apply Malaysia’s national AI principles, PDPA-aligned data practices, and human-in-the-loop checks to your own use cases.
Which standards and laws does it cover?
Malaysia’s National Guidelines on AI Governance and Ethics (AIGE, MOSTI 2024) and the Personal Data Protection Act, including the 2024 amendments. We cover the seven AIGE principles, PDPA data-handling duties, bias and fairness checks, transparency, and accountability with a human in the loop.
Is AIGE a law we have to comply with?
AIGE is a voluntary national framework, not yet binding law (MOSTI, 2024). The PDPA is binding. We help you treat AIGE as the standard to build to now, so you are ready as governance tightens, while meeting your current PDPA obligations.
What do we leave with?
A working governance posture for your AI use cases: where human review sits, how you check for bias, what you disclose, how you handle personal data, and who is accountable. It is a checklist your team can apply, not a lecture on ethics.
Is this program HRDC claimable?
Yes. It is claimable through HRD Corp under SBL and SBL-Khas. GrowthPro Asia is an HRDC-registered provider, and we help with the claim paperwork. For most registered employers the levy covers most or all of the cost.
Does the PDPA affect how we use AI?
Yes. The Personal Data Protection (Amendment) Act 2024 added mandatory breach notification, a data protection officer duty, and higher penalties, with fines up to RM1 million (Personal Data Protection Department, 2024). We map what that means for training data, model inputs, and outputs in plain terms.
How is the cost set?
We do not publish a fixed price. Cost depends on in-house versus scheduled delivery, group size, and customisation to your sector and use cases. It is HRD Corp claimable, so for most registered employers the levy covers most or all of it. Tell us your group size and format for an indicative quote.
What it costs
We do not publish a fixed price, because the program is built around your team. Three things set the cost: whether you run it in-house on your own use cases or join a scheduled cohort, the size of the group, and how far we customise to your sector and data. It is HRD Corp claimable under SBL and SBL-Khas, so for most registered employers the levy covers most or all of it. Tell us your group size and format, and we will send an indicative quote and exactly what is included.
